We were thrilled to kick off the new year in our new location, just a stone's throw from our previous office. Although our move technically began in November 2023, by January 2024, we were fully settled and eager to commemorate this significant milestone with our community of friends, supporters, and advocates at Rekindle.
The event drew a diverse crowd, including members of the local community, the Police Crime Commissioner, The Sheriff of Powys, our partner organizations, as well as many of our generous donors and funders.
Jodie Hughes, our Service Delivery Manager, warmly welcomed guests at noon, followed by Ruth Carlile-Mills, speaking on behalf of her father and Rekindle's Patron, Lord Carlile of Berriew, who, unfortunately, couldn't attend. Rachel Wright, our Lead Recovery Practitioner, shared a moving testimony from one of our clients, underscoring the vital nature of our work. Reg Cawthorn, High Sheriff of Powys, then presented Jodie with an award for Rekindle, “in recognition of of great and valuable services to the community”, now proudly displayed in our reception area. Dafydd Llwelyn, Police and Crime Commissioner, emphasized the importance of charities like ours, and the speeches concluded with remarks from our Chair of Trustees, Robin Brierley.
Among the many advantages of our new premises are additional therapy rooms, allowing us to expand our capacity for client appointments. At the opening event, we named two of these rooms after two of our founding member families, Carlile and Thomas. As part of our commitment to collaboration with our clients and community, we're currently consulting with them on the name for the third room. If you have a name you would like to suggest, please contact us – we’d love to hear from you!
