Rekindle’s new premises has been the perfect launchpad for setting up regular groups and activities. In 2024 we received funding from PAVO to hold weekly groups where young people could ‘drop-in’ informally and access support and activities in a welcoming space with friendly staff.
Working in collaboration is at the heart of what we do here at Rekindle. As a regular group formed, we were able to get the members involved in the community:
The group enjoyed a day of bench building in Trehafren fields with Open Newtown.
We held regular cooking sessions with Cultivate
Members learned about money management with Barclays Bank.
Additionally, our activities team reached out to Newtown College and invited students to share our facility, learn new skills and build peer relationships. There really has been something for everyone!
Our Christmas party offered clients the opportunity to celebrate the festivities with their peers. We had delicious sweet and savoury pancakes from Cultivate, party games, a quiz, and Music Anywhere provided karaoke and a healthy dose of Christmas cheer.
Moving into 2025 we have plenty to shout about!
Music Anywhere will run song writing and music production sessions.
We’re getting active with badminton sessions at Maldwyn Leisure Centre.
Thanks to a generous grant from the Welsh Government’s Child Poverty - Innovation and Supporting Communities Grant, ten young people will have the chance to go horse riding.
Rekindle welcome all 16–25-year-olds to attend any of the activities and would like to encourage you to spread the word. You can find our upcoming activities listed on our activities page.
